History

The Panzer 38(t) was a light tank used by Nazi Germany during the early years of World War II. Originally a Czechoslovak design known as the LT vz. 38, it was adopted by the Wehrmacht after Germany’s occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939. The tank was armed with a 37 mm gun and a reliable 6-speed transmission, offering good mobility and mechanical reliability. Despite its relatively thin armor, the Panzer 38(t) proved effective during the invasions of Poland, France, and the early stages of Operation Barbarossa. However, by 1942 it was increasingly outclassed by more heavily armed and armored enemy tanks. Its sturdy chassis continued to be used in various roles, including for self- propelled guns like the Marder III and Grille series.
