History

The Cromwell (A27M) was a British cruiser tank used during World War II, known for its high speed and maneuverability. Introduced in 1944, it was powered by the Rolls-Royce Meteor engine, allowing speeds up to 40 mph (64 km/h). Armed with a 75mm gun, it provided a good balance of firepower, capable of engaging both infantry and lightly armored vehicles. Its armor thickness varied, offering up to 76mm at the front. The Cromwell was widely used during the Normandy invasion and subsequent campaigns, excelling in reconnaissance and flanking maneuvers, though it struggled against heavier German tanks like the Panther.
