History

The Panzer II Ausf. C, introduced in 1937, was a key variant in the early stages of World War II, particularly during the Blitzkrieg campaigns. Powered by a 140-horsepower Maybach HL 62 TR engine, it achieved a top speed of 40 km/h (25 mph). The Ausf. C featured improved armor and enhanced mobility, making it more effective in its role as a light tank designed for infantry support and reconnaissance missions.

Armed with a 20 mm KwK 30 L/55 autocannon and a 7.92 mm MG34 machine gun, the Panzer II Ausf. C had 20 mm thick armor that offered moderate protection against small arms and shrapnel but was vulnerable to anti-tank weapons. While outclassed by more advanced tanks later in the war, it played a crucial role in the early invasions of Poland and France. Its compact design, combined with reliable maneuverability, made it an important part of the Wehrmacht’s armored divisions, symbolizing the evolution of tank design during the early years of World War II.
